Abstract:
The Jinzhong region is home to a multitude of traditional villages in Shanxi Province, bearing rich historical culture and diverse landscape elements. This paper, grounded in landscape gene theory, identifies and records the landscape genes of traditional villages in the Jinzhong area, establishing an indicator system for landscape genes and mapping the landscape gene chain and gene map. The paper initially categorizes the landscape elements of traditional villages into four major gene types: the material landscape genes of site selection patterns, spatial layout, and architectural form, along with the immaterial landscape genes of cultural customs, further subdivided into the 16-item indicator system. The paper elaborates on the above-mentioned 16-item indicator system. Drawing upon the analysis of the indicator system, it constructs and maps the landscape gene information chain for traditional villages in the Jinzhong area. Lastly, by selecting four key research subjects within the clusters of traditional villages in the Jinzhong region, the study maps out the landscape gene maps of key traditional villages according to the landscape gene information chain and linkage paths. This study aims to provide technical support and a research foundation for the comprehensive protection and utilization of traditional villages in the Jinzhong region of Shanxi Province.
