Abstract: Main functional zones are the basic spatial system for the development and protection in China. Taking main functional zones as a transmission clue can connect the national space strategy and guide the layout of spatial elements, which opens up the transmission channel from the national planning to the district and county planning. Based on the evolution and understanding of the main functional zones, this paper analyzes the current transmission mode and problems. To enhance the effectiveness of transmission, a comprehensive transmission framework of 'logic-mechanism-methods' is constructed. Based on that, guidance mechanism, limitation mechanism, incentive mechanism and assessment mechanism are advanced to strengthen the conduction effect. Moreover, it is proposed to refine the types of main function zones to achieve precise positioning, employed 'three zones and three lines' to induce and limit spatial organization, make policies to realize the spatial value, and formulate differentiated assessment targets to ensure the effective implementation.
