Abstract: The perspective of differentiation of small towns emphasizes that the core characteristics of small towns should be recognized at different stages in order to achieve high-quality development. The current territorial spatial planning focus on implementing various control indicators, making it difficult to form the planning based on the core characteristics. Therefore, this paper puts forward on planning strategies from the differentiation perspective. Taking Malanyu Town, Zunhua City, Hebei Province as an example, this paper firstly defines the existing functional support of Malanyu Town and refines its core features as rich historical and cultural resources. Secondly, it analyzes the relative changes of the development constraints of Malanyu Town from multiple dimensions, and judges the redifferentiation trend that Malanyu Town will become the core of tourism in the unit. Lastly, this paper expounds on the practice of Malanyu Town's territorial spatial planning in order to support its redifferentiation tendency and help it to endow its historical and cultural resources vitality.
