Abstract: The Cinque Terre which located in Liguria, Italy was added to the World Heritage List (WHL) by UNESCO in 1997, it was also listed as a national park by the Italian government in 1999. It is the material cultural heritage of Italy's national treasure level. This article takes the site as the research object, is mainly divided into four parts. The first is to trace the historical evolution of the Cinque Terre. And the second part is the analysis and cognition of its unique cultural heritage value. The third part is the analysis and summary of the activation and reuse strategies by the Italian government and other official or non-governmental organizations. The last part concludes the reference and enlightenment on the protection, activation and rural revitalization in China.
