Abstract:
Rural planning under the national territorial spatial planning system needs to strengthen the research on the landscape character of the target rural landscape to avoid convergence. Based on the advantages of landscape character assessment (LCA) in landscape feature protection and development, public participation and flexible control guidelines, landscape character assessment could be used in rural planning in three approaches, including ‘blank’ strategy, strategy manual preparation, and flexible control guidelines. It also illustrated the significance, operation logic, methods and evaluation mechanism of landscape character assessment in these three aspects. This research introduced landscape character assessment for designers in the compilation and practices of rural planning under the national territorial spatial planning system, and it also provided a powerful tool and offered support and suggestions for the logic, process, framework and practical operation of rural planning, landscape feature protection and village spatial design.
