Abstract:
In the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, ‘urban renewal’ has become an important strategic measure and key point for countries to improve the quality of human settlements environment, promote high-quality urban development, transform the mode of development and construction and so on. In recent years, urban renewal in China has made some achievements. It is rare to study urban renewal planning from the perspective of culture-leading by using comprehensive and systematic planning thinking at the city level. Taking Haikou as an example, the authors explore the planning from four aspects:the construction of protection and inheritance pattern, the weaving of cultural space network, the control and guidance of key areas, and the continuous coordination of demonstration projects. Based on empirical research, the paper puts forward the optimization suggestions for urban renewal in China.
