Abstract:
Cultivating newly emerging small and medium-sized cities with mega-towns as the breakthrough point is of great significance to the construction of new-type urbanization in China. How to avoid the disadvantages caused by dividing the newly emerging small and medium-sized cities from the original administrative regions, and to achieve the synergetic development of the two places, is a top priority for cultivating newly emerging small and medium-sized cities in the future. Longgang City, which recently ‘transformed from a town to a city’ in China, needs to coordinate development in regional strategic space, industrial system, major platforms, public services, factor resources and other aspects along with former administrative region Cangnan County. The research puts forward the way to coordinate development of the two places, including establishing a strategic space conducive to regional integration, establishing new industrial clusters for the future, establishing a network of interconnected regional facilities, and establishing an efficient and effective coordination mechanism.
