Abstract: In recent years, with the introduction of the concept of cultural route into China, the study of settlements along cultural routes, as one of relatively new research interests, has received academic attention. Using measuring visual analysis tool of CNKI and literature information statistics and analysis tool of SATI, the general trend of research on the settlements along cultural routes in China is summarized. The main research contents are combed and analyzed from four aspects, which are settlements classification, historical evolution, value evaluation and conservation and renewal, and its multidisciplinary research methods are discussed. In view of the limited research area, lack of quantitative research and imperfect theoretical system in current study, some suggestions are put forward for the future research.
