Abstract: Practical village planning is an important research and practice direction at present, and it is of great significance to village construction and development to draw up useful and practical village planning based on realistic conditions. Based on the provincial pilot project of cultivating beautiful village housing in Shandong Province, this paper takes Mengdong Village, Jiazhuang Town, Shanghe County, Jinan City as the study example. On the basis of the development basis of existing rural human settlement environment construction, and multiple rounds of planning and the implementation of many projects, through the comprehensive evaluation of the actual needs of rural living environment, the standards, improvements, and new items for the construction and development of Mengdong Village are obtained. Then the practice of beautiful village housing construction is carried out from the perspective of utilizing the realistic basis and saving funds, and this paper explores the characteristic development model of villages in northwestern Shandong. This article focuses on the planning improvement of Mengdong Village from five aspects: First, determine the development positioning of the village; Second, optimize the industrial structure of the village; Third, improve the shortcomings of public facilities; Fourth, create rural landscapes and build ecological and cultural spaces; Fifth, improve the architectural design of and shape the style of regional villages.
