Abstract:
In the context of stock planning and the path transformation of urban development, the focus of urban construction has gradually shifted from incremental space to stock space. Urban renewal, especially the redevelopment of inefficient urban land, has been widely valued as the key implementation object of stock planning. In July 2023, the State Council reviewed and issued the 'Guiding Opinions on Actively and Steadily Promoting the Transformation of Urban Villages in Megacities' (hereinafter referred to as the 'Opinions'), which pointed out that there are prominent problems such as cultural features and supporting facilities in the transformation of urban villages during the process of demolition and new construction. This paper focuses on how to solve the 'contradiction' between the realization of planning objectives and the protection of local culture through the study of the case of Shoreditch, London, and combs the refined governance methods in the process of urban organic renewal, hoping to provide some thinking and reference for the preparation and implementation of relevant urban renewal, and further improve the path for the implementation of the 'Opinions'.
