Abstract:
Currently, there are 2,844 county-level administrative districts in China, and besides 977 municipal districts, there are 1,867 county units. Counties occupy a large area and have a large population in China, and their urbanization process greatly affects the outcome of the national new-type urbanization strategy. Therefore, the importance of county-level urbanization is self-evident, and the promotion of the new-type urbanization strategy with counties as an important carrier has been clearly required at the national level in China. This article takes Zhejiang Province, which is at the forefront of county-level urbanization in China, as an example. It comprehensively explains the general characteristics of Zhejiang's county-level urbanization from the three dimensions of functional types, spatial patterns, and population composition. And it combines related cases to further analyze the prominent problems currently faced by county-level urbanization in Zhejiang. On this basis, this article proposes specific paths and optimization suggestions for further deepening county-level urbanization, with a view to providing a reference for Zhejiang and other provinces in China.
