Abstract:
Under the backgroud of rural revitalization, this paper explores the insights that the practice of the 'Transition Towns' movement in the United Kingdom can offer for the development of townships in China. The article begins by reviewing the background and theoretical foundations of the UK Transition Town movement, with a specific focus on the case of Totnes in South Devon. It analyzes how the movement facilitated community cooperation, cultural conservation, ecological protection, and the construction of a sustainable local economy through governance transformation, industrial transformation, cultural transformation, and ecological transformation. Based on the specific conditions and developmental needs of rural China, the study proposes using townships as developmental units to strengthen local governance, cultivate distinctive industries, preserve regional culture, and protect the ecological environment. These strategies aim to promote integrated urban-rural development and provide innovative pathways for rural revitalization.
