Abstract:
The 'spatial growth boundary' of a township is influenced by multiple factors, reflecting the objective laws governing the spatial development and evolution of the township. It serves as the basis and prerequisite for delineating the 'urban development boundary' of the township. In the current process of delineating urban development boundaries for township-level territorial spaces, the sole reliance on the 'dual evaluation' method is insufficient for the delineation of spatial growth boundaries at the small-scale township level. Therefore, it is urgent to study the formation rules of township spatial growth boundaries, considering them as important factors in delineating urban development boundaries. By selecting 20 typical township cases in Chongqing, this article analyzes the changes and influencing factors of the growth boundary at different stages of township spatial development. It summarizes and extracts four types of township spatial change characteristics: industry-driven, native, combined, and relocated. Furthermore, it reveals the impact of five driving factors, which are transportation, industry, location, culture, and ecology, on changes in township spatial growth boundaries. The research results can provide a reference for the delineation of urban development boundaries in township-level territorial spaces.
