Based on the data obtained on the unused homesteads in the 27 sampled villages in Boye County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, the study is conducted in terms of the unused situation and distribution patterns, and the results showed that the unused homesteads within the villages were mainly unused all year round and not all year round. Furthermore, the distribution patterns exhibites three coexisting types, namely scattered distribution, centralized distribution, and both scattered distribution and centralized distribution. SPSS and ArcGIS are used to analyze the sample data to explore the influencing factors that lead to the distribution characteristics of unused residential lands.
