Abstract:
In the context of deepening rural revitalization, a comprehensive territorial spatial planning system, and vigorous rural tourism development, ‘Landscape-rural Integration' (LRI) has become crucial for advancing high-quality rural development. This study examines the megacity of Guangzhou, proposing four novel LRI development orientations-spatial comprehensiveness, regional networking, functional diversification, and governance coordinationfrom a holistic spatial planning perspective. Premised on these orientations, a four-tier strategic framework is constructed, comprising integrated landscape-rural planning, distinctive characterization of villages/landscapes, value chain extension, and implementation safeguards. Multi-scale diagnostic analysis of spatial patterns, landscape characteristics, and operational mechanisms reveals extant issues in Guangzhou's LRI, including spatial landscape-village mismatch, imbalanced resources and tourist flows, operational oversight deficits, and insufficient endogenous motivation. The study accordingly proposes a four-level implementation path, offering cogent solutions through top-level spatial design, typology-based guidance for landscape-rural distinctiveness, value revitalization measures, and practical implementation safeguards. This research provides theoretical and practical paradigms for megacities seeking to promote holistic LRI, optimize territorial spatial governance, and advance rural revitalization.
