The Distribution Pattern and Driving Mechanism of Rural Art Spaces: A GIS-Based Spatial Analysis Using Multi-source Data in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

Abstract: Driven by the continuous advancement of rural revitalization and urban-rural integration policies, the cross-flow of urban and rural cultural resources has been accelerated, and new cultural carriers such as rural art galleries and artist studios have been on the rise. As a key region for coordinated urban-rural development, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region boasts important strategic significance and exemplary value in rural cultural construction. This study takes rural art spaces within the administrative villages of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region as the research subjects, categorizes them into three types: art creation spaces, art dissemination spaces, and daily public art activity spaces, and adopts quantitative research methods including kernel density estimation and the Geodetector model to analyze their spatial distribution characteristics and influencing mechanisms. The research results show that rural art spaces in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region generally present a pattern of 'one primary core, two secondary cores, and multiple surrounding nodes' with an obvious agglomeration trend toward the metropolitan core, while their distribution is relatively sparse in northern Hebei, eastern Hebei, and the eastern coastal areas of Tianjin. Population density and cultural supporting facilities are identified as the leading factors affecting their distribution. The explanatory power of superimposed factors is universally enhanced, among which the interaction between air quality, cultural supporting facilities and educational attainment demonstrates the strongest explanatory capacity. This study aims to provide references for the differentiated allocation of urban and rural cultural resources in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region through analyzing its spatial pattern and influencing mechanism, so as to facilitate the full realization of comprehensive rural revitalization.
